Samsung is a global technology leader known for innovation and cutting-edge products. With thousands of employees across the globe, the company doesn't just sell technology - they live and breathe it. Samsung operates a Group Personal Pension Plan and, while they're not legally required to provide extensive financial education, they chose to go above and beyond. In 2012, they formed a Pension Governance Committee as an example of best practice. The company recognizes that over 90% of their employees invest in the default pension fund, and they wanted to ensure their people were making informed decisions about their financial futures.
Samsung faced a problem that's all too common with younger workforces: pension apathy. While over 90% of employees were investing in the default pension fund, the company realized they needed to step up their financial education game. They wanted to share insights from their annual Pension Governance meeting, raise awareness about Pension freedoms, and most importantly - get younger employees thinking about their future. But here's the thing about pensions: they're not exactly thrilling dinner conversation. The challenges were clear. How do you put financial education at the top of the employee agenda when people would rather think about literally anything else? How do you engage a younger workforce that showed a serious lack of understanding about pensions? And how do you make saving for retirement feel less like a sacrifice and more like an investment in the life they want to live? The real communication challenge? Traditional benefits communications weren't cutting it. Boring emails and static posters weren't going to move the needle with a tech-savvy workforce. Samsung needed a centralized communications hub that could deliver targeted, multi-channel messaging at scale - and make pensions actually interesting.
Samsung didn't wing it. They did their homework first. They researched non-joiners to identify trends and benchmarked their pension contributions against the market. Based on what they learned, they launched Pensions Month in October, powered by Edenred's Communications module. Edenred's Communications module became the central hub for the entire campaign. The platform enabled Samsung to segment and personalize messaging, targeting specific business segments with what mattered most to them. Everything ran from one place - no juggling multiple systems or spreadsheets. They could automate personalized emails at scale based on each employee's circumstances, and track engagement across every touchpoint to see what was actually working. The messaging was smart. Instead of dry pension talk, they showed employees the lifestyle they enjoy now - and how they'd lose it in retirement without saving. Suddenly, contributions weren't a sacrifice. They were an investment. Through the Communications module, Samsung deployed augmented reality campaigns via video and text emails throughout the month, making it seamless to orchestrate this complex, multi-touchpoint campaign - something that would have been impossible to manage manually.
At Edenred India, we blend innovation, trust, and impact to help organizations unlock value—one reward, one recognition, and one employee at a time.
